Lake Washington Park - Terrazzo

The recent renovation of the lobby at the Lake Washington Park building called for terrazzo flooring, and J.E. Cummings selected ABW to do the job. After moisture testing and approval of the custom color design, we got started. All major work was performed at night as the area is surrounded by offices.

After the tile was removed, we had our first look at the substrate.

It required over an inch of fill in some places, so a latex modified cement underlayment was used to level the main area and bring it into tolerance.

Next was the anti-fracture membrane and the zinc strip. We pre-bent the 1/2" wide zinc strip to match the two different radii, and it fit perfectly with no adjustment!

The 6" accent strips were trowelled in, followed by the rest of the floor.

Then the dry grinding, grout, wet grinding, sealing and burnishing.

The overall design of the floor was unique and interesting, and the finished product came out very well!

Crown Cork and Seal

Morgan Industrial recently poured a new concrete base and supports for a large washer at Crown Cork and Seal in Olympia, and ABW was chosen to apply the chemical resistant epoxy coating to the entire area.

The floor coating, Sikagard 62, was applied with a smooth finish under the machine to make cleaning easier, and with a non-skid aggregate around the perimeter.

The trench, sump pit hatch, and support pads also received 2 coats of epoxy.

After the slab passed moisture vapor emission testing , the 3100 SF job was completed in 3 days without a hitch, and the results look great!
